HOW IT WORKS

When do we start working on your project?

Top Shelf Logos will start working on your project as soon as we receive payment in full and a completed Creative Brief.

How long does it take before I will see my initial concepts?
Your initial concepts will be presented to you either three (3), five (5) or seven (7) business days after we receive your payment and completed Creative Brief. The number of days is based on the Top Shelf Logos Package you purchased and whether we are working on logo concepts or website concepts.

How will I see my logo design concepts?
Once your initial logo designs are finished, we will e-mail them to the e-mail address you provided us with when filling out your Creative Brief.

If I want revisions to a chosen logo how long will that take?
Every following change will be delivered in 2-3 business days. More complex changes or redraws may be delivered up to 5 business days [depending on the complexity of the desired change(s)]. All redraw deadlines are determined by the receipt of all necessary information pertaining to the re-designing of the logo..

What if I don't like any of initial logo designs?
If you are not satisfied with our initial logo designs you will be presented with two to four completely new logo designs.

What if I have my own idea for the logo design?
Any ideas or requests you have for your logo design may be included in our logo Creative Brief form or by contacting your Project Manager.

Can you redo my existing logo design?
Yes. Top Shelf Logos can redo your existing Logo Design. Please provide us with the latest version of your logo design (original EPS file format) and make note of your needs in your logo Creative Brief. See our "Top Off Logo Package" as it is perfect for this type of redo.

Do you do complex logo illustrations?
Our package bundles and prices DO NOT include complex logo illustration designs. However, we can and will do them. Please contact us to receive a quote on your specific complex logo illustration.

What is the difference between a WordMark, BrandMark and IconicMark logo type?

WordMark Logo A WordMark logo is suited for companies who wish to have a font treatment type of logo without any graphic elements. (think Office Max or Home Depot)

BrandMark Logo A simple but creatively strong symbol that complements an aspect of the company (think Mercedes or Apple Computers). Reasons to consider a BrandMark logo would be the need for an emblem on a product, if your company name is too long, too generic or doesnt translate globally. BrandMark logos usually stand alone without the company name so make sure you can afford to teach the public what your symbol means.

IconicMark Logo This logotype combines a WordMark logo with a BrandMark logo. This way the elements can be used together or separately and when properly designed can communicate what a company does and showcase the company's name as well. These tend to communicate more readily than other logotypes and require less marketing for the logo to be effective. The IconicMark Logo is the most cost-effective type of logo design and is ideal for start-ups and small businesses with a limited marketing budget.

Do you create logo designs for products, titles or names?
Yes. Top Shelf Logos can create a graphic identity for products, titles and/or names.

Who keeps the rights of the created logo design?
All rights of the final, paid in full, logo, website, graphic design or other marketing material created by Top Shelf Logos belong to our client.

What is a concept?
Concepts are the first stage of our design process. After you send Top Shelf Logos your Creative Brief, our designers create initial concepts, or design ideas, that explore the different directions we could take your logo while maintaining both the artistry and functionality of an exceptional logo.

What is a revision?
Revisions are the second stage of the design process. After you choose the concept that fits the direction you want your logo to take, we will develop a new set of logos using your selected concept as our guide.

You must agree to our definition of a "revision", which is the following:

A revision consists of a font change, color change or graphic placement change. This does not include a request to produce additional samples exceeding the package amount.

FILES, ARTWORK AND COLOR

What is a scalable vector file?

Vector files are files that you can resize, scale, and even change colors or fonts without loosing any quality or resolution on your image. It's best to make JPEG, TIFF, GIF or Bitmap files out of an original vector based file as this allows for the best possible logo clarity. Vector files are mostly used by professional designers and print shops and should be used when producing any professionally printed marketing materials.

Will you provide me with scalable vector files?
Yes. Top Shelf Logos will provide you with scalable vector files.

What is bitmap file?
Bitmap files are a more popular file that are the best to use on the Web. You may use them on most word applications.
They are small in size, but hard to modify because of their poor resolution. You may notice a big distortion in your image if you try to scale a bitmap file. The most popular bitmap files are GIF, JPEG and TIFF.

What are Pantone colors?
Pantone colors are used by professional print shops around the world. They are universal colors that help designers, print shops and customers talk in one language.

Can I edit my business cards and stationery?
Yes, you can edit, or change all of the information on your business card and stationery. You will need to have the proper version of Adobe Indesign installed on your computer as your stationery files are created in this software program.

Why does the final print job look different from how it looked on my computer screen?
Images that are viewed on a computer monitor will never have the exact same colors as what will come out of your printer. The reason for this is not only that every monitor is different but color created from light (your monitor) looks different from color created from ink (your printer). It is for this reason that designers frequently choose colors from the Pantone color matching book. This Pantone color matching book is largely a standardized color reproduction system. By standardizing the colors, different printers in different locations can all refer to the Pantone system to make sure colors match without direct contact with one another. We feel it is important to keep your brand consistent and use Pantone colors when creating your Logo Design.
